Before founding Fitzgerald Petersen Communications in June of 2005, Debbie spent six years as vice president and director of The Media Group at Ogilvy Public Relations. The Media Group provided national and local print and broadcast placement, press conference coordination, event coordination, satellite and radio media tours, video production, messaging workshops and media training for clients across the Ogilvy U.S. Network such as Qwest, Quiznos Sub, Xerox, Level 3, General Motors, Coca-Cola, Uniden America, Johnsonville Sausage, Warren Miller Entertainment, Giant Bicycle, Celestial Seasonings, Aventis, Verizon and Orange Glo International.

Debbie started her career as a writer and producer at Denver’s then-NBC television affiliate KCNC, Channel 4. From there, she worked as a reporter on KHOW’s Tom Martino Troubleshooter show, and her final foray as a TV reporter on the CBS affiliate in Boise, Idaho. Debbie has very strong Colorado media contacts and has placed stories with virtually all of the media outlets in Denver and Colorado Springs, as well as many of the towns throughout the state. Her personal media relationships include anchors, producers, writers, editors and a variety of beat reporters who work on features, entertainment pieces and business stories.
Debbie began her public relations career at local public relations agency Webb Public Relations where she managed accounts such as The Colorado Department of Transportation, Palomino Euro Bistro, Rodizio Grill, Taco Cabana, Colorado Lottery, Great Outdoors Colorado and Colorado Recycles, among others.
Debbie earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of California at Santa Barbara, CA. She lives in the Denver area with her husband and two daughters.
